Scott spent last week taking a sword class with Sam Salvati. Vigilante - an Old World sword with New World flair - was born in that class. Scott still needs to figure out what type of permanent handle she'll get, but Vigilante is battle worthy and will be auctioned off in the near future - #BlackSwordAuction

Scott added a temporary handle for pictures and testing. Vigilante will ultimately get either an all wire-wrapped handle or one with wire over black leather.
Scott hand-forged the blade out of 1084 and peened the mild-steel guard in place. He added additional peen marks for a decorative effect.
The entire blade was also draw-filed by hand (Sam wouldn't allow anyone to use a grinder on the blade), and Scott decided draw-filing metal was a Medieval form of torture. He managed to turn torture into art by creating a feather pattern with the file marks.

With guard and pommel added, the entire sword weighed only 2 lbs 11 oz.
Scott chose to Parkerize his entire sword to give it a wicked finish
that protects the blade from corrosion.
The protective finish came in handy when testing the sword on pineapples.
Distal taper plus proper heat treat equals . . .
The sword also has an armor-piercing point for penetrating hardened targets.
